Yesterday in mom's group, I shared about the struggles we've been having with Carter's anxiety, his poor sleeping, and my increasing LACK of patience with him. One of the moms talked about her own childs troubles and how she and her husband realized that their family was going through a spiritual warfare. She mentioned that many times Satan can attack your family through less than obvious ways, including your children. Standing back now, I can see the spiritual attacks on our family through Carter. We prayed for Carter and I prayed yesterday when I got home....prayed for the banishment of Satan from our home. I'm happy to say, that Carter was much more relaxed going to bed last night. Only woke up once and was able to turn right over and go back to sleep.
We have some good friends that are also experiencing this spiritual warfare. They are members of our small group and because of some issues regarding Wednesday night activities for their children, it is looking like they will not be able to be part of our study. We are studying the Truth Project. We'll be praying for this situation and that Satan's presence will leave, for hearts to be changed and for the Glory of God to be exemplified!

There's no doubt that our enemy is real and will use any circumstance he can to thwart our spiritual progress. I believe that Christian families are prime targets and the Lord has reminded me over and over that we are in a real battle and that He alone holds the resources to overcome...prayer is really doing something! Jesus, bless Carter in knowing that You care about his fears and said "Fear not," to many people in the Bible because You understood.
ReplyDeleteIn the for what it's worth department..something I've learned fairly recently in meeting ongoing parenting challenges is this. When I see myself having a big reaction to a child's problem, to ask the Lord to reveal to me what MY reaction is about...is this energy to make needed changes of some kind, or is this situation reminding me subconsciously of some wound or fearful feeling from my own past or childhood that the Spirit could want to heal in ME, so I can grow, or...? I don't know if this approach speaks to you, but it has brought incredible changes for good into my life. Press on. Love you.
The Bible says that the enemy (Satan) prowls around like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour. This will be a good testimony to share of the Lord's workings in both your life and Carter's. For now, I'll be praying for God's Spirit to reign, for freedom from fear, for the Word of Christ to dwell richly in your whole family, and for protection from the Satan's evil intents. May they have no foothold in your lives, by the grace of God!
